ABOUT THE TRC COBRAS

We are an esports team from Thomas Rotherham College in South Yorkshire and we compete in the British Esports Student Champs. We aim to be the best esports destination for students wanting to study or particpate in esports in the South Yorkshire region.

We want our students to get a genuine insight into the esports community whether they be players, managers, coaches, casters, admins, and so on.

2021/22 was our maiden season in both competing and delivering the BTEC Esports course and we achieved a top 16 place in both of the titles offered, Rocket League (Div 1 Playoffs) and in Valorant (Last 16 Playoff in Spring Cup).

2022/23 saw a big expansion in the esports opportunities offered, we added League of Legends & OverWatch teams. We also have ran several esports events including the South Yorkshire Rocket League Cup, and various BrawlHalla events.

2023/24 will see the launch of our Sim Racing, we will be entering the Student Racing League setup in collaboration with British Esports & Williams Esport. We will also look for other Sim Racing opportunities within Forza Motorsport, Gran Tursimo, Assetto Corsa, Race Room, etc. After a season break, British Esports are planning FIFA/Football based league. The current situation in the football game market suggests it will be using EA's offering, and we will enter once it is announced.

We will always look to expand participation and to ensure everyone as the access to esports whilst studying at TRC.

Adam Davis

Head of Performance & Coaching

Adam has an excellent knowledge of esports and has been active within the esports community for over 15 years. Adam has played World of Warcraft & Halo on a semi professional level, and has also coached these titles for number of years. Adam currently runs a YouTube Halo coaching channel.

Jon Williams

Head of Fitness, Health, & Wellbeing

Jon has joined TRC & TRC Cobras in 2022 with his wealth of experience in personal fitness, health and wellbeing to perfectly round out your esports teachers. (he use to be a paramedic and PT!)

Wayne Jones

Head of Operations & Student Experience
Teaches: Esports, Computer Science

Wayne is our technical expert with his knowledge of computer systems and coding. Wayne is responsible for expanding esports participation and opportunites within TRC Cobras.
